1) Which countries do you currently offer freight services from?
We currently operate in 15 countries and 26 destinations. They include: Bahrain (Manama), Canada (Toronto), China (Guangzhou, Hongkong), Dubai (Al-Mamzar, Deira, Sharjah, Abu-Dhabi), India (Mumbai), Kenya (Nairobi, Mombasa, Eldoret, Kisumu, Nakuru), Pakistan (Karachi), Tanzania (Dar es Salaam), Thailand (Bangkok), Turkey (Istanbul), Uganda (Kampala), United Kingdom (London), United States (New York,NY; Washington DC; Dallas, TX; Atlanta, GA; Houston, TX), South Africa (Jo'burg), Netherlands (Amsterdam).

2) Do you export to the above destinations as well?
No. ASCC Logistics currently handles imports only from the destinations listed above and into Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. We envisage expansion into full logistical services, including exports, as we seek to realize our Vision.

3) How do I know my freight charges?
Please visit our homepage’s ‘Get a Quote’ section. It is an automated system that gives an estimate of freight cost based on information you provide including origin of shipment and chargeable weight of shipment. Please note that the system will provide an estimate but actual chargeable weight will however have to be confirmed at our offices once we receive them. Value added services such as door delivery and re-packaging for international shipping are chargeable and not factored in the automated system.

4) What is chargeable weight in air freight?
Chargeable weight is the actual or volumetric weight (v/m) of the package, whichever is higher. Volumetric weight (also known as Dimensional Weight) is calculated by multiplying length by width by height of each package (cubic size) then dividing by 165 (if measured in inches) or by 6,000 (if measured in centimetres).

5) Why don’t you just use actual weight for invoicing?
By basing charges on weight alone, low density packages become unprofitable for freight carriers due to the amount of space they take up in an aircraft.

6) Why are your rates so competitive? Do they include duty and customs clearance?
We are able to offer cheaper rates in comparison to our competition because of the excellent business relationship we enjoy with our network of agents and carriers which provide us the best routing for our consignments.
Price quotations received from our staff or our automated systems are all inclusive (all-in) from our office of dispatch up to the point of collection by consignee.

7) Is my shipment insured?
No. On request, we however facilitate purchase of supplementary freight insurance through the air or ocean line during the freight booking process.

8) How long will my shipment take to arrive?
Air freight
From all destinations we serve to Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania, excluding Dubai, consignment freight and clearance will take a maximum of 14 working days. Consignments from Dubai to Kenya take a maximum of 7 working days for freight and clearance.

Ocean freight
From all destinations we serve to Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania, consignment freight and clearance take between 30 and 35 days.

9) Can I track my shipment?
Yes. By entering your WayBill Number in our tracking facility available on the homepage of our website you can receive periodic updates of your consignment. The WayBill Number is issued to the sender of the consignment.

10) Can you store my shipment in your warehouse?
For a period of 14 days from the day we receive it in our warehouse we will store it free of charge. Thereafter it will attract a storage fee per day depending on chargeable weight. Three months from date of arrival at our warehouse and without collection commitment from consignee, we will auction the consignment to recover incurred costs.

11) What is minimum chargeable weight and how does it affect me?
It is the lowest weight we will accept to render our freighting service. It varies from country to country. Any package that weighs less than minimum weight will be invoiced at minimum weight freight charge. For example: minimum weight from London to Kenya is 10 kilograms. If you freight 2 kilograms you will be invoiced for 10 kilograms.

There is no maximum weight.

12) Can you ship anything I want to?
We will ship all our clients’ general goods. Depending on several factors we will at discretion decide whether to ship hazardous goods.

Such include: explosives, gases, flammable liquid, flammable solids, oxidizing substances and organic peroxides, toxic and infectious substances, radioactive materials, corrosive materials, magnetized materials, dry ice, machines equipped with fuel tanks.
